FOUNDER

It started with a note.

Miski Anwar

Miski Anwar is the founder of Better Days, a student-founded mental health initiative exploring presence, human connection, and quiet care. Her work across healthcare, education, advocacy, and writing continues to shape the questions at the heart of Better Days.

A small gesture. A place to begin.

In September 2022, Better Days began with handwritten notes—small words of encouragement offered from one person to another.

There was no larger program behind them. Just a simple idea: sometimes being reminded that someone thought of you matters.

Care that begins with the person.

Experiences across healthcare, education, mental health advocacy, and writing have continued to shape Better Days and the questions behind it: What helps someone feel seen? What makes care feel genuine? And how do we offer connection without turning it into an expectation?

The answer is still evolving, but one principle remains: care should be offered, not imposed.

Words to think with. Questions to keep open.

Writing has become another way of exploring the questions behind Better Days. Notes on Care holds essays and reflections on care, mental health, healthcare, and human connection.

Alongside it, developing work around Quiet Care asks what presence, choice, and human connection can look like within healthcare spaces.

There is still more to listen to.

Better Days is still becoming. Its work continues to take shape through listening, reflection, and community input — staying open to what people need, and what care might look like next.

A little more connected.
